Yes, another Oblivion help needed thread ...

I know its sad I'm having trouble with this but I need help getting into the Theives guild. According to the gamespot guide, after the chick beats me to the diary it should be in her house, in a chest, where I can steal it back, but the diary is not anywhere there, she is keeping it on her person, and pickpocketing her seems to be impossible (she always notices). So how can I steal it from her, or should I just let her win and take the alternate quest? I don't have any saves left from before she gets it so I can't go back and still try to beat her to it in the first place. Help would be appreciated!Yes, another Oblivion help needed thread ...
I dont think theres much difference if you win or fail the test you just wait untill Midnight in that persons garden again and you get something else, I can't remember what I only failed it with my firsty character because I didn't know what to do. stealing it is the best way, youll need a high sneak skill definetly, and do it not around people, or cast a spell on her, anyway will do it. i had the same problem for awhile, but i got it from her by taking it

I got into the thieves guild by completing the test you're having trouble with. My brother got invited to the guild after stealing expensive items like soul gems, getting caught and doing time in prison. Not long after he was released, he got an invitation from a guild member. I'm not sure if that invitation leads to that same test. The bad news is that there's a chance that the test you're trying to complete is your only chance at getting into the guild.

Hmm, I was going to let her win that and do the alternate quest Armand will give me, but I seem to have messed her up or something, as she doesnt seem to want to turn it in to Armand like she's supposed to.
I think if you can't get the book you'll be asked to steal something from the weapons store in the market district. ALl i did was after i got the message saying she stole it i waited till about 2pm in teh afternoon and she wasn't in teh house. Went in picked the safe adn that was that. BUt i'm pretty sure if you can't get it from her you can just go back and steal something from one of the stores.

[/QUOTE]Yeah that's what I was gunna do, but as for stealing it from her house, she seems to be keeping it on her, as I said, which contradicts every guide I've read, and on top of that she won't give it to Armand, so I can't get the alternate thing yet.

That's pretty werid... it went quite smooth for me. I wonder if you interfered with the quest in any way. Kill anyone you weren't supposed to ect... Try the oblivoion boards cause that seems a little weird to me.
Stangely enough it just worked where I was able to pickpocket her while she was asleep and got the Diary, go figure.
